BAD ROMANCE AT THE AMA’s

We never thought we’d be saying this, but Lady Gaga is on the verge of boring us. Her routine for Bad Romance at the AMA’s this week was outstanding as a standalone performance, but when we compare it to everything else we’ve seen her do over the past 18 months it’s all just starting to look very similar. Gaga in a leotard, Gaga in a mask, Gaga with her crazy bitch face on, Gaga getting violent, Gaga strutting across the stage, Gaga playing the piano while standing on a stool… all of which have been seen before in her performances for Just Dance, Paparazzi, Poker Face at the MTV Awards, Glastonbury, T in the Park, the V Festival, American Idol…

When she launched onto the scene Lady Gaga was the freshest artist music had seen in 10 years and we loved her for it. Now though she’s in danger of becoming a bad caricature of herself. She’s already built a career out of ripping early Madonna off, now it’s time to borrow M’s greatest asset – REINVENTION!
