THE HIGHS AND LOWS OF BEING SUBO

The first pictures of Susan Boyle’s appearance on Oprah have emerged and we have to say she scrubs up well.

It’s been reported that Susan, officially the biggest music star in the world right now, gave a candid interview and sang Who I Was Born To Be – as well as showing off her cringe-worthy hip thrusting.

Sadly it’s not all good news. The level of success SuBo has achieved over the past year comes with a lot of pressure, and fears are growing for her well-being following more examples of her increasingly erratic behaviour.

While waiting in London’s Heathrow Airport for her flight to Chicago to film the show she shocked fellow first class passengers in the British Airways VIP Lounge by singing and dancing with a mop. She also tried to polish a male passenger’s shoes.

The day before that she was seen launching into a foul mouth tirade in a cafe near her hometown of Blackburn, Scotland. The tantrum is said to have been brought on by her personal assistant – believed to be one of her nieces – telling her she needed to go on a diet. In protest SuBo allegedly grabbed a chocolate bar and scoffed the entire thing in one go, shouting “I’ll show her!

She’s also said to have shouted at the cafe manager “you better not be fu**ing talking about me!

Her condition is said to be exacerbated by the fact that she’s being pulled in different directions by her team of managers – Andy Stephens, who used to work with George Michael, U2’s former accountant Ossie Kilkenny and another of her nieces, Kirsty.

The saddest thing about this story is the number of nieces that have crawled out of the woodwork to support Aunt SuBo. Sources tell us that they didn’t show nearly as much interest in her before she became the multi-millionaire star that she is now.

SUSAN BOYLE IS NO. 1 IN THE US

Susan Boyle

SuBo has won her US chart battle against Eminem and hit the no.1 spot in the album chart selling a massive 701,000 copies of I Dreamed a Dream in its first week of sales! She now holds the record for the the biggest first-week sales of any album this year, and also the record for the largest ever sales debut for a female artist. As Simon Cowell would say, we’ve got to hand it to you Susan – outstanding!

Eminem now has the 2nd biggest debut of the year having sold 608,000 copies of Relapse : Refill in its first week of release in May.

Meanwhile, in this week’s chart, Adam Lambert is in third place with 198,000 sales of For Your Entertainment. While Adam’s sales figures may look tiny compared to SuBo and Eminem, this is actually a massive achievement considering Kris Allen’s album sold just 80,000 copies in its opening week and missed out on the top 10. Adam came second to Kris in the last season of American Idol.

Rihanna is languishing in 4th place having sold 181,000 copies of Rated R – a very disappointing result for her given the run of success she’s had in the US charts in recent years. Time for her to drag her lazy ass out of that arm chair!

SUBO EARNS A FORTUNE

SuBo

Susan Boyle’s I Dreamed a Dream has smashed the UK album chart record for the highest opening week sales by a new artist, shifting a massive 410,000 copies in 7 days. The previous record was held by Leona Lewis’ Spirit, which sold 375,000 copies in its first week of release. So far SuBo’s album has also reached the top slot in Ireland and Australia, and the number 2 slot in Holland. It’s also certain to take the no.1 spot in the US when the Billboard chart is published later this week.

With Susan earning around $2 an album she’s quickly become a millionaire. She’s already sold 1 million albums between the US and UK, and at least 500,000 in the rest of the world, giving her an estimated wealth of at least $3 million by Friday. Not bad for an unemployed spinster from West Lothian.

Congratulations SuBo, spend it well. And by that we mean fast cars and luxury mansions, not giving it all away to the local church!

SUBO STORMS THE US

SuBo continued her assault on the US this week by appearing on top rated show, Dancing with the Stars, to sing I Dreamed a Dream – the Les Mis song that made her famous. We’ve got to hand it to her, she may have her erm… challenges in life, but her forthcoming album is the most anticipated of the year and is number 1 by a mile on Amazon’s pre-release chart.

Who’d have guessed that this 48 year old spinster from West Lothian would become the UK’s biggest export of the year!

While on the subject of SuBo, we may have giggled a little when we heard her new single would be a cover of the Rolling Stones’ Wild Horses. But, embarrassed though we are to admit it, it’s actually quite remarkable! Check it out below…
