SUSAN BOYLE IS NO. 1 IN THE US
SuBo has won her US chart battle against Eminem and hit the no.1 spot in the album chart selling a massive 701,000 copies of I Dreamed a Dream in its first week of sales! She now holds the record for the the biggest first-week sales of any album this year, and also the record for the largest ever sales debut for a female artist. As Simon Cowell would say, we’ve got to hand it to you Susan – outstanding!
Eminem now has the 2nd biggest debut of the year having sold 608,000 copies of Relapse : Refill in its first week of release in May.
Meanwhile, in this week’s chart, Adam Lambert is in third place with 198,000 sales of For Your Entertainment. While Adam’s sales figures may look tiny compared to SuBo and Eminem, this is actually a massive achievement considering Kris Allen’s album sold just 80,000 copies in its opening week and missed out on the top 10. Adam came second to Kris in the last season of American Idol.
Rihanna is languishing in 4th place having sold 181,000 copies of Rated R – a very disappointing result for her given the run of success she’s had in the US charts in recent years. Time for her to drag her lazy ass out of that arm chair!

BUT SLAPPING THE WIFE AROUND IS FINE
The fine moral compass that is Good Morning America took the decision to ban Adam Lambert from the show this week following his man on man kiss at the AMA’s – then one day later booked Chris Brown in for a performance and interview. The very same Chris Brown that punched Rihanna around the face and allegedly tried to strangle her, leaving her bruised and battered as shown in the above photo.
Glad to see GMA are setting such a fine example to the children of America!

ADAM ON HIS AMA PERFORMANCE
The uproar following Adam Lambert’s AMA performance is hardly surprising given the conservative beliefs of many Americans, but we’re very disappointed to see that Good Morning America cancelled his appearance on their show as a result. It seems that media censorship is alive and well. Thankfully CBS had no qualms about giving Adam airtime and he was able to defend himself well, coming across as a very eloquent, intelligent guy.
The case against his onstage simulation of oral sex and kiss with another guy centres around the inevitable question of “but what about the kids who were watching.” We fully support Adam’s response that it’s up to parents to decide what their kids watch, and given that the performance went out at almost 11pm the kids should have been tucked up in bed!
Our favourite part of the interview is when Adam is asked if he would do anything differently given all the complaints of indecency. His response: “I would sing it a little bit better.”
Judging by the comments on web-sites such as the Huffington Post the vast majority of the public support Adam.

FOR YOUR ENTERTAINMENT
Adam Lambert’s performance at the AMA’s showed true star quality and it was refreshing to see an US male put on such a flamboyant performance. We absolutely love the song and it was nice to watch a proper showman and something a bit different from the string of solo females that have been dominating the awards shows of late.
Adam certainly didn’t hide any of who he is and we’re sure the likes of Freddie Mercury would have been proud, though it will be interesting to see what effect this performance has on his career. Queen’s career was effectively over in the US following the negative response to their drag performance in the video for I Want to Break Free - yet Adam had the balls to push the envelope just a touch further by simulating oral sex with one of his male dancers.
From the initial reactions on the net this doesn’t seem to be sitting well with his American Idol fans. Times have certainly changed in the past 20 years, but unfortunately probably not to the extent that boy on boy action will be accepted as entertainment in the Mid-West!

ADAM LAMBERT’S NEW VIDEO
Check out Adam Lambert’s new video for Time for Miracles, the official song from this year’s blockbuster movie 2012.
It’s a good song, his voice sounds great and the video is everything you’d expect from a movie theme song. Overall – not a bad start to his career.
